Ruth L. Miller 1910 - 2008 Pomona
Graveside services for Ruth L. Miller, 98, Pomona, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona.
Mrs. Miller died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Baldwin Care Center in Baldwin City.
She was born May 12, 1910, in Linn Creek, Mo., the daughter of Robert H. and Nora Cable Prewitt. She moved from Linn Creek to the Pomona area in 1926 and attended Pomona High School.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She raised registered Hereford cattle and cultivated a large vegetable and flower garden with more than 100 varieties of roses.
She married Roy A. Miller on Sept. 15, 1927, in Topeka. He died May 12, 1982.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carrol Miller; three bothers, Norman and Maurice Prewitt and Robert Prewitt Jr.; four sisters, Ruby Nowling, Alice Wash, Pauline Collins and Cecil Weinheimer; and two grandsons, Kenneth Miller and Ronald Chambers.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Miller, Pomona, and Harlan Miller and wife Thelma, Ottawa; two daughters, Charlotte Chambers, Baldwin City, and Treva Simmons and husband Fletcher, Manhattan; a daughter-in-law, Vada Miller, Pomona; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday before the services.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
