Baldwin City celebrated its 50th Maple Leaf Festival this fall.
Baldwin City celebrated its 50th annual Maple Leaf Festival this October. The festival was estimated to be one of the largest ever.
A huge crowd estimated at 40,000 people came out for the 50th annual Maple Leaf Festival over the weekend. Part of the crowd here strolls down Eighth Street, past booths and maple trees.
Several Maple Leaf Festival visitors stop by the Baker University women's basketball food booth Saturday afternoon. Numerous food booths are located on High and Eighth streets during the annual festival.

The Kids Zone was moved to in front of the Baldwin City Public Library for this year's Maple Leaf Festival and the new location was a big hit and drew its usual big crowd.
The Baldwin City Lions Club has turned funnel cakes into a long-standing Maple Leaf Festival tradition. The Lions have the formula down to a science as shown by, from left, Steve Baldwin, David Reed and Larry Janssen. The Lions churn out hundreds of funnel cakes each year and usually raise around $5,000 which goes back into the community

Will Cooper, Baldwin High School band teacher, leads the Baldwin City Community Band as it plays in the Lumberyard Arts Center during the festival. The LAC was busy with different bands throughout the weekend as it opened its doors this year for local music groups.
