Kent Nunemaker launched his corn harvest this week by cutting a 40-acre field northeast of Lawrence. He was pleased with the results. “The corn looks pretty good this year,” he said on Thursday. “It’s a little above average.”

The wheat harvest is over in the Douglas County area, and the results were unimpressive at best, farmers and agriculture experts said. “It wasn’t that great,” said Bill Wood, agricultural agent for K-State Research & Extension in Douglas County.
County approves of 2.9-mill increase
